چکیده

Developing the bio-based barrier material to substitute petroleum-based one is trend in functional packaging applications. Utilization of abundantly underappreciated bark biomass attractive from sustainability point view; however, an upgraded approach required maximize performances lignin-containing cellulose nanofibril (LCNF) films willow bark. Herein, hot water extraction (HWE) and microfluidization were studied for their effect on yield LCNF its film performance after treatment aqueous p-toluenesulfonic acid. The resultant HWE superior nontreated ones regarding yield, moisture, oxygen properties. In particular, achieved permeability 3 cm3·?m/m2·kPa·day at 50% relative humidity, which among lowest single materials comparable commercially available synthetic films. attained complete blocking UV light transmission within wavelength range 290–400 nm. Overall, this study shows that pretreatment not only allows recovery high-value extracts, but also significantly improves performances. biocompatible, lignin-containing, self-standing hydrophobic nanocellulose show promise as a layer against radiation permeation food other

Biosynthesis and Characterization of Nanocellulose-Gelatin Films

A nanocellulose-gelatin (bacterial cellulose gelatin (BCG)) film was developed by a supplement of gelatin, at a concentration of 1%-10% w/v, in a coconut-water medium under the static cultivation of Acetobacter xylinum. The two polymers exhibited a certain degree of miscibility. The BCG film displayed dense and uniform homogeneous structures. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) r...

From Willow Bark to PolyAspirin: History, Discovery and Innovation

Degradable polymers based on polyanhydrides are essentially polymeric prodrugs; the polymers hydrolytically degrade into salicylic acid, just as aspirin hydrolyzes into salicylic acid upon ingestion. This talk describes medical applications where the polymer serves as a temporary barrier that degrades into therapeutically active molecules such as non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) an...

Extraction of Hemicellulose and Lignin from Sugarcane Bagasse for Biopolymer Films: Green Process

A hemicellulose is any of several heteropolymers , such as arabinoxylans, present along with cellulose in almost all plant cell walls. Hemicellulose has a random, amorphous structure with little strength. It is easily hydrolyzed by dilute acid or base as well as myriad hemicellulase enzymes. In this study, lignin and hemicellulose was extracted from sugarcane bagasse using the ammonium hydrolys...

the search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame

this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...

Comprehensive elucidation of the effect of residual lignin on the physical, barrier, mechanical and surface properties of nanocellulose films†

We elucidate the effect of residual lignin on the interfacial, physical and mechanical properties of lignocellulose nanofibrils (LCNF) and respective nanopapers. Fibers containing ∼0, 2, 4, and 14 wt% residual lignin were microfluidized into LCNF aqueous suspensions and were processed into dry films (nanopapers). A systematic decrease in fibril diameter with increasing residual lignin was obser...
